Vision Group is seeking a Surgical Assistant in Winnipeg, MB to support intraocular and LASIK procedures. The role involves preparing the room and tools, assisting the surgeon, and ensuring patient comfort and safety in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Become a specialist of tools and technologies used in intraocular and LASIK procedures.
• Prepare the operating room and tools before procedures for the surgeon.
• Support and reassure patients with clear, compassionate communication.
• Coordinate activities within the team to support each intervention.
• Work on your feet in the operating room with precision and focus.
• Attend to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management to mitigate risks.

• You will become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular and/or LASIK procedures.


• You are the person the surgeon relies on to prepare the room and its tools before the procedures.


• You always find the right words to support and reassure the patient if necessary.

• You are comfortable working on your feet in the operating room.

• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

• Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).


• You can travel to other clinics for training (expenses covered by Vision Group).


• Schedule: You are available to work Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with Saturdays on rotation.
