Job summary

LASIK MD in Barrie, ON seeks a Surgical Assistant for a temporary mandate. You will sterilize instruments, prepare tools and support ophthalmology procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Responsibilities

• Sterilize instruments and set up tools.
• Reassure patients before and after procedures and provide empathy.
• Explain post-operative eye drop schedules to patients.
• Coordinate patient flow in and out of the operating room.
• Work on your feet in the operating room and OR area.
• Assist with team coordination during interventions.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management.

The wage range for this role is between $19.98 - $22.98/hr.

Your tasks at a glance

• You sterilize instruments and set up tools as needed.
• You reassure patients before and after their procedure and ensure they feel at ease showing empathy.
• You clearly explain the post-operative medication (eye drops) schedule to patients.
• You coordinate the flow of patients in and out of the operating room.
• You are comfortable working on your feet in the operating room and within the operating room area.
• You are a stickler for details and work with precision and accuracy.
• You like working in a team and know by heart the actions to take to coordinate each intervention.
• You support the organization's Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization's overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks

• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.)
• You can travel to other clinics for training (expenses covered by Vision Group).
• Schedule: You are flexibly availablity to work Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
