Job summary

LASIK MD in Victoria, BC is seeking a Clinical Assistant for a permanent part-time role (approx 20–32 hrs/week, 2–4 days). The position offers benefits including a bonus, vacation, sick days, floater and wellness days, group insurance, telemedicine, RRSP match, and a free LASIK surgery opportunity.

The role involves assisting during pre-op exams, charting, answering patient questions, and coordinating with Optometrists, with cross-training for Receptionist duties and risk management reporting.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication in English (written & spoken).
• Comfortable with computers and Microsoft 365; EMR experience is a plus.
• Healthcare background is an asset (medical assistant, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist during pre-op exams and fill patient charts accurately.
• Answer patient questions and ensure the best service.
• Work closely with Optometrists.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
• Update the appointment system after each consultation.
• Schedule and confirm post-operative appointments by phone.
• Receive cross-training for Receptionist role after training.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management.

The wage range for this role is between $19.55 - $22.48/hr.

Your tasks at a glance

• You assist during the pre-op exams and fill the patient’s charts accurately.
• You answerpatient’s questions and ensure the best service.
• You work closely with Optometrists.
• You conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
• You updatethe appointment system after every patient's consultation.
• You schedule and confirm post-operative appointments by telephone.
• You will also receive cross-training for the Receptionist role upon completion of your initial training.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You have excellent communication skills in English (written & oral).
• You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

• Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: medical assistant, physiotherapy assistant, optometry assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, veterinary assistant, etc.).
• You are looking for a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where your ability to work in a team and excel at multi-tasking will be an asset.
• Schedule: You have flexible availability between Wednesday to Saturday between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (2-4 days p/week).
