Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead the overnight shift, driving safety, performance, and customer satisfaction. You will oversee labour planning, briefings, task assignments, and adherence to quality standards on a Sunday to Thursday schedule from 11:00 pm to 07:00 am.

You will monitor daily performance, approve labour hours, coach staff, and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring a clean, safe work environment and compliance with OHSA.

Qualifications

• Preferably a college diploma or equivalent experience in logistics/operations.
• Experience leading shifts and managing labour to meet production goals.
• Strong communication, coaching and performance appraisal skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and industry compliance.
• Ability to analyze KPI data and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Schedule labour requirements for the shift to meet production goals within budget.
• Complete shift briefings for effective information flow to all employees.
• Assign and monitor operators and warehouse staff time to complete tasks.
• Ensure orders are picked by priority to reduce wait times for drivers.
• Hold staff accountable for picking/packing and quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze and report departmental performance via KPI tracking.
• Approve labour hours daily using company policies and payroll accuracy.
• Provide daily coaching and performance feedback; document disciplinary actions.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and assess service requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and comply with OHS acts.

Job description

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for all facets of the operations on the shift.This involves leading all aspects of health and safety, operational performance, customer relations, continuous improvement, and people development.

SHIFT

Sunday to Thursday - 11:00 pm to 07:00 am ; flexibility expected

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule the labour requirements for the shift to ensure production goals are met within the budgeted cost structure.
• Complete shift briefings to ensure the effective communication of relevant information to all employees.
• Assign and follow up with operators and warehouse staff on the length of time required for tasks to be completed by noting tasks assignments and communicating approximate time of completion,
• Ensure the sequences of orders are picked based on priority shipments and priority customers therefore reducing extensive waiting times for drivers, RUSH loads and late deliveries,
• Hold Team Members accountable for ensuring proper picking and packing procedures are followed and that all production meets or exceeds Client’s quality standards.
• Monitor, analyze and report daily/weekly departmental performance through effective KPI tracking and data collection for respective shift.
• On a daily basis approve all labour hours using agile in adherence with company policies, maintaining accurate record keeping ensuring proper payment of employees for the shift and cost allocation to customer accounts.
• Provide daily feedback to employees through coaching and administer performance appraisals. Handle all disciplinary situations appropriately and in a timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Maintain close interaction with customers to develop strong relationships while assessing service requirements; communicate where appropriate.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Fulfill the duties of a supervisor under the Occupational Health and Safety Act including safety, violence and harassment laws.
• Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION

• Preferably a College Diploma in Business Management with focus in Logistics Management and/or the equivalent in experience.
