Job summary

The Town of Whitby seeks a proactive Supervisor of Corporate Security to lead the implementation of a centralized security program, protecting staff, visitors and assets. You will work under the Senior Manager, Security & Enforcement Services to advance CARE values in daily operations.

You will oversee security activities, coordinate with town departments, and manage investigations of incidents, enhancing safety across all facilities and services for a growing community.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Security & Enforcement Services, the Supervisor of Corporate Security is responsible for the management and administration of the security operations for the Town of Whitby, including developing, implementing and monitoring the Corporate Security Program in partnership with town departments for the protection of town employees its customers, and physical assets. This is accomplished by using a mix of proactive and reactive security measures, supported by current and relevant documentation.

Duties for this newly created progressive role include, but are not limited to:

• Assists the Senior Manager, Security & Enforcement Services, to develop and implement the corporate security philosophy, policy/procedures and strategy to effectively deliver a centralized solution for the security of Town employees, members of the public and all Town assets utilizing our facilities and services and our physical assets.
• Directs, coordinates and monitors day-to-day functions and services of security (contracted services). This includes reviewing and evaluating work performance, providing guidance and interpretation of Town specific policies and procedures, addressing complaints/disputes and resolving problems.
• Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates a Town wide Security Program with interdepartmental engagement in order to deliver risk prevention, detection and response programs that ensures that all Town staff, customers and assets are protected and that Town services and facilities remain safe.
• Develops implements, and monitors security activity and security incidents, and ensures that all security incidents are properly documented, investigated, traced and closed (including post-event analysis and review).
• Conducts and manages applicable security investigations related to non-criminal incidents including but not limited to trespassing, and suspicious activity; as well as criminal incidents including but not limited to thefts, property damage, and offences against persons.
• Acts as a liaison with law enforcement personnel during criminal investigations, event security planning, and the release of security camera recordings.
