Job Description

MKTG S+E is a part of the broader dentsu Sports International network.

As Director of Strategy, you will lead MKTG Canada's agile Strategy Team, advising Tier-1 clients and developing innovative, market-leading approaches to achieve their brand & business objectives through sponsorship. You will report to the Managing Director, MKTG Canada.

Responsibilities
  1. 70% – Strategic Consulting
  2. Translate important insights into clear client strategies.
  3. Define opportunities, insights, and frameworks to inspire strategic recommendations and creative solutions.
  4. Uncover Company, Competitive, Cultural, Consumer, and Category insights related to the client's business and goals.
  5. Use persuasion, storytelling, and strong presentation skills to articulate visions.
  6. Simplify complex information into engaging stories and recommendations.
  7. Build presentations to communicate recommendations and strategic points of view.
  8. Drive Thought Leadership to differentiate MKTG.
  9. Design/commission primary research and analyze secondary data.
  10. Recommend sponsorship measurement and KPI frameworks.
  11. Monitor cultural and social trends.
  12. Lead agency creative brainstorms and strategic sessions.
  13. Coordinate between Consulting and Brand Activations teams to develop creative briefs and tactics.
  14. Understand how sponsorship strategies can be amplified through various channels.
  15. Moderate client sessions and stakeholder interviews to uncover strategic opportunities.
  16. 30% – Agency Operations
  17. Lead a team including an Associate Strategist.
  18. Shape internal processes and frameworks for strategy development.
  19. Support business development activities, including prospecting, RFP responses, proposals, pitches, and onboarding.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant strategy experience in an agency setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, anthropology, sociology, psychology, or social sciences.
  • Experience across relevant industries/sectors.
  • Experience with sports, music, arts, fashion, and culture drivers.
  • Leadership experience guiding strategists.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with clients and internal teams.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and channels.
  • Proven ability to persuade senior clients.
  • Understanding of research methods and audience channels.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, creative campaigns, and technologies.
  • Experience in sponsorship, events, sports, arts, or lifestyle is an asset.
Additional Information

The salary range is $97,500-$130,000, based on experience and skills. Benefits include medical, dental, RRSP, paid time off, and more.
