What is the opportunity?

The Customer Engagement & Data (CE&D) team drives a transformational strategy by leveraging the power of data to deliver personalized customer engagement and experiences, including a dedicated focus on accelerating our Next Best Action ambition and driving integrated customer strategy and research capabilities. Partnering closely with Brand Marketing & Corporate Communications, this team will optimize and build marketing initiatives to drive more integrated customer journeys across channels, enabling our product, segment, and regional teams to deepen relationships and drive premium growth. RBC Bank U.S and Caribbean banking businesses are aligned with CE&D.

Overall, the Director, Strategy Enablement & Performance plays a critical leadership role in our CE&D line of business, driving clarity, focus and enabling a strong performance-based culture across the team.

You will be part of the CE&D Business Management team and work closely with the leadership team to:

  • Enabling Leadershipto focus on what matters most

  • Set the team up to deliver on priorities – ensuring resources are aligned to accelerate the flow of value

  • Ensure priorities are well understood across our teams to inspire and enable our talent

  • Drive OneRBC culture focused on the client to win

Our success is measured through increased confidence to achieve CE&D and platform goals, improved employee engagement and team effectiveness and accelerated speed to market to drive value creation.

What will you do?

Strategy Activation & Enablement

  • Act as translator between SMT to CED to ensure teams understand strategic priorities and ensures alignment to strategic priorities

  • Works with CE&D executive and leaders, ensuring growth strategies are well-developed, articulated and aligned across the team and with enterprise perspective/priorities

  • Developing materials fit for purpose to ensure strategic priorities are clearly understood across the team including clearly defining what success looks like

  • Drives and monitors progress against CE&D Strategic Priorities & Key Results

  • Manages and supports Leadership routines and operating rhythms to ensure focus on the right things at the right time and drive progress against strategic priorities

  • Business Management team lead for RBC Bank U.S.

  • Looks for other opportunities to set the team up for success advancing CE&D strategic priorities more broadly while demonstrating RBC’s leadership model

Performance Management & Planning/Prioritization

  • Leads annual goal setting & quarterly check-in routines that will ensure accountability for CE&D teams to achieve common goals and ensuring resources are aligned

  • Accountable to create and manage governance and routines to monitor and measure progress of strategic priorities that will drive success including leading development of Quarterly Business Review (QBR).

  • Ensures teams have defined strategic metrics (OKRs/KPIs) supporting development when required to ensure alignment to CE&D strategic priorities to drive better transparency of initiatives, prioritization, and performance management

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Minimum 7 years’ financial services strategy or related management consulting strategy experience

  • Strong analytical skills and comfortable working in ambiguous situations, scoping out work efforts and bringing clarity to outcomes while remaining flexible to deliver high-impact results

  • Proven track record of creating strategic communications, content and materials that is high quality, clear, concise and effective – with excellent technical ability with PowerPoint

  • Consultative Leadership approach with proven ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including our senior executives, to understand needs and translate that into action managing change and fostering organizational alignment through impact and influence

  • Experience in cross-functional initiatives and operating in a matrixed environment

  • Self-starter: takes initiative and is comfortable working independently within a small, impactful team

Nice-to-have:

  • MBA or graduate / post-graduate or professional designations or equivalent

  • Management Consulting Experience

  • Comfort with data driven approaches to problem solving

  • Change management training, certification and/or experience
