Job summary

Family and Children’s Services Niagara is seeking a Director of Philanthropy and Development to lead the Foundation’s fundraising strategy and donor-centered programs in Niagara. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and Community Engagement, you will expand major gifts, grants, and sponsorships while building strong relationships with donors, boards, and partners.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in fundraising, communications, business marketing or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or revenue development.
• CFRE would be an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to comply with fundraising best practices including ethical guidelines.
• Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and legacy gifts.
• Advanced writing, communications, and presentation skills.
• Valid G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of fundraising strategies to deliver donor experiences and grow unrestricted revenue.
• Collaborate with leaders to identify priority needs and resourcing plans.
• Build relationships with donors through authentic engagement that supports long-term commitment.
• Expand major gift and legacy donor pipelines via prospect identification and networking.
• Prepare proposals, reports, and communications articulating funding opportunities and impact.
• Leverage data analytics to inform strategy and donor pipeline development.
• Establish internal grant tracking, deadlines, and reporting obligations.
• Build relationships with institutional funders through proactive stewardship.
• Write, submit and manage grant proposals and support internal partners.
• Oversee grant administration and compliance with funder requirements.
• Support donor engagements and sponsorship asks for events.
• Coordinate with Board and CEO on fundraising activities and policy development.
• Develop and execute an integrated marketing/communications plan to support Foundation goals.
• Engage in public speaking and community events to increase awareness and engagement.
