Job summary

Vital Biosciences Inc. is seeking a Strategic Finance Associate to join our finance team in Oakville, Ontario. You will build and own complex financial models, analyze the business, and support strategic decisions across functions including commercial, manufacturing and R&D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 2–3 years in investment banking, corporate development, strategic finance, transaction advisory, or consulting with significant financial modelling exposure.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; able to build financial models from scratch and own modelling work.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and relationships among income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Ability to translate complex business questions into structured analyses and practical recommendations.
• Experience in medtech, life sciences, or manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; able to work independently and in teams.
• Excellent communication, commercial curiosity, and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve financial models that connect revenue, expenses, working capital, and cash flow.
• Develop deep understanding of business model, product economics, and operational drivers to inform financial assumptions.
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate opportunities and risks.
• Prepare financial analyses and business cases for new initiatives, pricing, capital investments, and growth opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning with driver-based models.
• Collaborate with commercial, manufacturing, R&D and other teams to validate inputs and trade-offs.
• Prepare clear summaries and presentations communicating financial insights to senior leadership.
• Establish consistent modelling practices and document assumptions for accuracy and usability.
