Job summary

Canadian Base Operators in Meaford, at the Army Training Centre - Central, is seeking a Storesperson to secure and account for clothing and equipment in the main warehouse. You will issue and exchange items and complete stock checks, reporting to the Stores Supervisor.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, SAP experience, forklift operation, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with safety training and protective equipment provided.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Receiving per SOPs and ensuring items are adequate.
• Pick items to be issued, transmit issues, notify customers and liaise with Inventory Control.
• Review stock inventory and quality.
• Issue clean and serviceable stock.
• Respond to customer requests.
• Assist customer with loading bulky stock.
• Process receipts, exchanges, and returns.
• Accept stock returned and assess serviceability or initiate repairs.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Follow all Health and Safety requirements and use protective equipment.

The Storesperson position is located in Meaford at the Army Training Centre - Central and typically reports directly to the Stores Supervisor. The primary duties of a Storesperson are to work in the main warehouse securing and accounting for various items of clothing and equipment; including issuing and exchanging items and completing stock checks and counts.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND PERKS

• Hourly wage - $20.00 - $22.79
• Regular daytime hours, Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receiving as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); ensuring items are adequate
• Pick items to be issued, transmit issues, notifying customers and liaison with Inventory Control
• Review stock inventory and quality
• Issue clean and serviceable stock
• Respond to customer requests
• Assist customer with the loading of bulky stock
• Process receipts, exchanges, returns
• Accept stock returned; confirming serviceability of items or initiating repairs
• Perform other duties as required
• Follows all Health and Safety requirements including wearing all mandatory personal protective equipment and participating the any Health and Safety training that is required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The following certifications/designations are considered an asset:

• Knowledge of DND policies and procedures

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 or more years' experience in the following would be considered an asset:

• SAP experience
• Forklift operation
• Pallet jackets
• Carts
• 3 ton truck

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
• Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Teams
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
• Must possess serviceable steel toe safety boots that meet standards for workplace safety

Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance

Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance- continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.

To obtain a Secret Security Clearance from the Government of Canada, applicants must undergo a comprehensive 10-year background check. This includes financial and criminal record checks, as well as a security assessment conducted by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). Applicants will be required to provide detailed information covering the past 10 years, including employment, education, and residency history. For this reason, continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.
