Job summary

Affinity is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical direction for a core domain, spanning backend data models to frontend visualizations using React and TypeScript. This is a hands-on leadership role with broad impact across product and engineering teams.

You will mentor engineers, own reliability and performance, and champion AI-assisted development practices while collaborating with product, design, and leadership to shape the roadmap.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and shipping production software as a full-stack engineer.
• Proven ability to lead ambiguous, high-stakes projects.
• Strong server-side experience with Ruby and PostgreSQL; open to similar stacks.

Responsibilities

• Set and own the technical direction for a core product domain, including architecture decisions and tradeoffs.
• Lead complex multi-quarter initiatives end to end.
• Partner with product/design from problem-definition to implementation.
• Raise the technical bar through design/code reviews and mentorship.
• Identify investments in reliability, performance, and developer velocity.
