Job summary

APPLY is seeking a Principal Agentic Engineer to drive the technical vision across the full stack for complex, enterprise-scale systems. You will mentor engineers, orchestrate teams of coding agents, and deliver scalable, AI-powered experiences that align with business goals.

You will work across UI, APIs, data stores, and cloud infrastructure, leading by example in a hands-on leadership role while raising the technical bar and shaping an agentic delivery model for transformative client

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience across the full stack with leadership at Staff or Lead level.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript; hands-on experience with React and Next.js on the frontend and Node.js on the backend.
• Ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and backend services, not just consume them.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases: schema design and data modeling for production systems.
• Deep understanding of API design, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and headless/composable systems (MACH).
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure valued).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless computing.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and production deployment practices.
• Strong system design fundamentals across layers: API contracts, data flow, caching, and performance at scale.

Responsibilities

• Envision and architect end-to-end solutions across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infra.
• Provide clear technical direction across the full stack aligned with business objectives.
• Champion scalable, secure, and maintainable systems—API-first, cloud-native, and composable by default.
• Own technical decisions across UI, services, data modeling, and infrastructure configuration.
• Guide technology decisions aligning with Apply's engineering standards.
• Organize and translate backlog into spec-driven requirements for coding agents.
• Synthesize stories, site maps, and brand strategy into agent-driven specifications.
• Apply BMAD or equivalent spec-driven development for clarity and quality across workflows.
• Design full-stack solutions that integrate with AI-powered systems (LLMs, RAG pipelines, agent orchestration).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to shape and deliver solutions; manage delivery risks and timelines.
