Job summary

Mattermost is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to set technical direction and scale its core web platform for defense and critical infrastructure sectors. You will drive architecture across Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, collaborating with teams to deliver features under strict security and reliability requirements.

You will mentor engineers, shape AI-enabled workflows, and contribute to the open-source codebase while aligning with government/enterprise customer needs and security

Qualifications

• Senior full-stack development experience in Go and React with ownership of end-to-end systems.
• Experience designing distributed/high-availability architectures at scale.
• Strong REST and WebSocket API design and networking fundamentals.
• Relational DB experience with PostgreSQL; schema design and optimization.
• Experience guiding AI coding agents for scaffolding, refactors, testing.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the architectural roadmap for Mattermost’s core web platform across Go, React, TS, PostgreSQL, Redis.
• Set org-wide standards for AI-agentic engineering workflows with accountability for correctness and security.
• Lead internal tooling and testing infrastructure strategy to speed delivery.
• Own the testing strategy and quality bar across frontend and backend systems.
• Drive architectural decisions for REST and WebSocket APIs with solid networking fundamentals.
• Partner with security, compliance and product leadership on strategic technical bets for government/enterprise.
• Mentor senior engineers and multiply technical impact across the org.
• Contribute to and shape Mattermost’s open-source codebase.
