General Purpose:

As a staff accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the accounting & finance team in a variety of functions, with a primary focus on managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivables (AR), and collections.

Additionally, the staff accountant will provide general accounting support, including performing account reconciliations, preparation of sales/use tax returns, and contributing to other projects as time permits.

Essential Functions:

Accounts Payable

• Responsible for all accounts payable activities including indexing documents in DocuWare, credit card processing, assigning GL accounts, reconciling invoices, entering in Infor XA, processing payment runs and maintaining precise records of all vendor payments and invoices.
• Allocate expenses to appropriate accounts and verifying vendor accounts, processing payments, and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
• Generating reports and statements for internal use.
• Working with our vendors to transition to electronic or card payment method.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Accounts Receivable | Credit Control

• Maintaining the billing system and generating invoices and account statements
• Processing payment application, recording transactions and maintaining records regarding payments and account statuses.
• Performing account reconciliations researching and resolving account discrepancies.
• Evaluating new credit requests, conducting client credit checks, and setting up the terms of credit for new clients.
• Managing and collection of all payments and debts from company debtors.
• Generating reports and statements for internal use.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Accounting

• Assisting with the preparation and filing state sales/use tax returns
• Managing & maintaining compliance of customer sales tax exemptions
• Performing account reconciliations
• Assisting with year-end audit working paper requirements
• Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or associate’s degree with 1-3 years’ accounting experience required.
• Licenses or Certifications: None

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all tasks.
• Excellent organizational, time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Strong analytical and accounting skills, including the ability to reconcile account balances and understand circumstances.
• Self-motivated demonstrating the ability to work independently & collaborating within a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience with Docuware or another online document retention service is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Mapics, Infor XA or similar ERP systems is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Able to travel as needed primarily for learning and development.
