Job Title: Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, conducting month-end and year-end closing processes, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial statements and providing analytical support for decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
  • Perform and maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for most asset and liability accounts.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper accounting for purchases and expenses.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate financial statements by the 2nd day of each month.
  • Research and interpret data to answer accounting and financial questions.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation, additions/disposals, year-end roll forwards, and reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing and prepare related reports, such as metrics.
  • Assist other accounting and finance team members, inventory management, cost accounting, and accounts payable.
  • Support the year-end audit by managing deadlines and preparing required documentation.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and monthly financial forecasts.
  • Support the Controller with additional projects and analyses.
  • Serve as backup for the full accounts payable cycle.
  • Prepare and file tax forms with government agencies.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • CPA designation or working towards it.
  • High integrity and discretion handling confidential information.
  • Over 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Over 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with experience handling large data sets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the company.
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems, JD Edwards preferred.
  • Experience with query writing tools is an asset.

Annual salary ranges from $59,000 to $81,000, based on skills and experience.
