The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Logistics Solutions to join our Global Logistics team in Toronto.

This is a permanent onsite position.

As a Senior Specialist, Logistics Solutions, you will be responsible for the development and management of Logistics Solutions to support strategic decisions in mergers and acquisitions, capital project development, new business development or expansion of existing businesses, and continuous improvement in logistics chains to enhance the company's competitiveness, interfacing business areas with internal project engineering areas and recommending strategic logistics decisions, along with monitoring and coordinating research and development activities for capital projects. Your experience and skill will allow you to contribute to the Base Metals business’ ESG initiatives through strategic partnerships, which aim to reduce overall carbon emissions across the supply chain, known as Scope 3 emissions.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Responsible for the development of Logistics solutions in support of the Business’s new projects/operations and commercial initiatives through innovative business models aiming to gain competitive advantage and enabling value creation.

  • Conduct studies and map logistics alternatives, whether using existing logistics infrastructure, considering or not operational improvements and capacity increases (brownfield projects) or developing new logistics corridors (greenfield projects) in countries where the company has operations or intends to develop new businesses. Lead or participate in negotiations with logistics service providers to ensure third-party service provision in regions where the company does not have its own assets, in line with the specified Logistics Solution and the best possible combination of tariff and service level.

  • Monitor project implementation to ensure that the defined Logistics Solutions are adequately implemented and provide necessary adjustments seeking assistance from related technical areas.

  • Develop and manage contracts and commercial agreements with strategic logistics service providers, coordinating various specialist areas, to ensure the movement of the company's products, meeting quality, safety, governance, and sustainability requirements. Seek the development of long-term partnerships to increase the reliability of logistics service provision.

  • Responsible for support and guidance regarding Base Metals Sulphuric Acid supply contracts.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Management, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in relevant field

Skills:

  • Broad organizational skills gained through significant experience, seasoning and /or special development required.

  • Broad-based understanding of economics, supply/demand and commodity markets/cycles as related to the mining industry.

  • Extensive experience in outbound logistics, shipping, or supply chain management within the resource sector or a similar industry.

  • Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, commercial and business acumen

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese

  • Ability to demonstrate personal initiative, ownership and accountability.

  • Customer focused and highly collaborative.

  • Good relating and sensemaking capabilities.
