Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of work experience as Mechanical Engineer/Mechatronics.
• Strong knowledge of automation systems, machine design, robotics and product development.
• Experience transitioning products from prototype to production environments.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM and Ansys or equivalent CAD/CAE software.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design automated test equipment and develop detailed CAD models.

Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment is a senior engineering role focused on designing and developing automated test systems used for Tesla’s power electronics products. Based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, this position supports the creation of advanced equipment that helps validate technologies used in vehicles, energy storage products, charging systems and humanoid robots.

The role combines mechanical design, equipment development and production support. Engineers work on CAD modelling, system development, testing activities and process improvements while helping move equipment from concept through deployment.

The position also involves working with global teams and supporting equipment installations and validation activities at various locations. Tesla’s Manufacturing Test Engineering team plays an important role in getting the systems working that support product quality along with production efficiency.

• Work background with prototyping, testing methods, machining and fabrication processes is required.
• Exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots and relays is required.
• Can work effectively with engineering teams from multiple disciplines.
• Skilled in SolidWorks, PDM and Ansys or similar CAD and CAE software.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work background is required.
• Strong problem solving, organizational and technical review skills are required.
• Can travel domestically and internationally when required.
