Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is required or an equivalent combination of education and work background.
  • A minimum of 7 years of work background in CNC manufacturing environments is required.
  • Work background within aerospace, automotive or medical manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming using G code, conversational programming and CAM software is required.
  • Skilled in CAD and CAM software tools.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T principles is required.
  • Work background using metrology instruments is required.
  • Work background with ERP systems is required.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal interaction skills are required.
  • Can work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • CNC certifications are considered an asset.
  • Multi axis machining work background is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document CNC machining processes for new and existing components.
  • Validate machining procedures before production release.
  • Improve toolpaths, cutting parameters and fixture designs.
  • Manage CAD and CAM integration activities.
  • Review designs for manufacturability requirements.
  • Maintain machining program libraries and standard operating procedures.
  • Support machine setup activities and first article inspections.
  • Investigate dimensional issues and machining related concerns.
  • Lead root cause reviews for production problems.
  • Work with quality teams to support compliance and audit requirements.
  • Drive projects that reduce waste and increase production output.
  • Keep track of manufacturing performance indicators including OEE and scrap rates.
  • Train machinists on machining processes and workplace procedures.
