Sr Business Analyst - Capital Markets

This is with a global IT services firm for a leading investment/wealth management services firm.

Client Location: Downtown Toronto, Ontario, close to TTC and GO services.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - In Office 4 days per week.

Contract Duration: 6 months, with possible renewal.

Project Description:

You will work as a Senior Engineer in Public Markets Technology, partnering with investment professionals and operations staff to design and implement solutions enabling trading and post-trade activities. Responsibilities include hands-on development and maintenance of solutions across various asset classes including equities, fixed income, derivatives, OTC, and FX. Your work will directly impact trade activities and deliver long-term value to the client.

Responsibilities:

• Gather expectations and requirements from the customer.
• Write user stories and acceptance criteria utilizing Behavioral Driven Development.
• Manage and promote best practices.
• Understand the impact of technology on the business.
• Produce quality deliverables and meet deadlines.
• Manage customer expectations.
• Review UI/UX designs.
• Create and review specifications (user stories).
• Gather business requirements through user stories, prototyping, etc.
• Analyze current business processes, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
• Design future business processes and perform impact & feasibility analysis.
• Provide regular status reports.
• Experience working within Capital Markets and/or Real Estate domains.

Mandatory Skills:

• 8+ years of experience.
• Ability to work from Toronto office 4 days/week (Monday to Thursday).
• Motivated and capable of working independently, leading requirements gathering and workflow sessions.
• Strong written communication skills, experience in technical requirements and data flow diagrams.
• Strong SQL and data analytics skills.
• Experience as a Scrum Master.
• Experience in the financial services industry.
• Assertive with follow-up on blockers and dependencies.

Nice to Have:

• Scrum Master or Project Management certification.
