Sr Business Analyst (with Public Market exp.)

This is with a global IT services firm for a leading investment/wealth management services firm.

Client Location is downtown Toronto Ontario, close to TTC and GO service.

Hybrid - In Office 4 days per week.

Contract - 6 months, possible renewal

Project Description:

You will work as a Lead Business Analyst in Trading Technology, Public Market Technologies team, collaborating with investment professionals and operations staff to design and implement solutions for trading and post-trade activities. The successful candidate will have experience working closely with the business to gather and document detailed requirements and to iteratively develop solutions.

This position requires someone with high attention to detail, creativity, ownership, integrity, and strong analytical & problem-solving skills. The candidate should possess working knowledge of Capital Markets and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Gather expectations and requirements from clients
2. Write user stories and acceptance criteria using Behavioral Driven Development (BDD)
3. Ensure adherence to best practices
4. Understand the impact of technology on business processes
5. Produce quality deliverables and meet deadlines
6. Manage customer expectations
7. Review UI/UX designs
8. Create and review specifications (user stories)
9. Gather business requirements through user stories, prototyping, etc.
10. Analyze current business processes, identify gaps, and suggest improvements
11. Design future business processes and perform impact and feasibility analyses
12. Provide regular status reports
13. Experience in Capital Markets and/or Real Estate domains

Mandatory Skills:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of experience as a BA on IT projects
• Experience in Public Markets
• Experience with web solution design (REST API, microservices)
• Good understanding of Agile (SCRUM)
• Requirements elicitation techniques: workshops, document analysis, interviews
• Proficiency in requirements documentation (User Stories, SRS)
• Calm, proactive, pragmatic mindset
• Strong communication, customer management, and team collaboration skills
• Experience with data visualization tools and UML

Nice to Have:

• Strong technical background
• Scrum Master or Project Management certification
