Role Summary

We are seeking a Solar Technician to support service, maintenance, and operations of Utility Scale Solar Systems across Ontario. Reporting to the O&M Operations Manager, this position is based in the Toronto and Barrie areas. Working hours are Monday through Friday, with potential overtime and weekend hours as needed.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  1. Inspect and maintain solar assets according to industry standards, documenting issues, severity, and recommendations.
  2. Review project drawings, manufacturer specifications, and installed equipment to ensure compliance with design and standards.
  3. Test electrical devices to verify proper operation.
  4. Follow safety standards, including First Aid, Fall Arrest, and electrical safety training.
  5. Guide and orient subcontractors and employees providing specialized services, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  6. Operate technology systems for relay log downloads, firmware updates, analytics, SCADA, and HMI.
  7. Maintain technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and training.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to colleagues, partners, and clients.
  9. Operate company vehicles safely.
  10. Conduct safety assessments, complete JHA/JSA, LOTO, and other safety documentation as per OSHA and site requirements.
  11. Make regular visits to regional offices.
  12. Participate in technician on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays.
  13. Attend customer meetings and lead action resolutions.
  14. Engage with potential new customers.
  15. Contribute technically to O&M proposals.
Required Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-4 years of post-secondary education, preferably in renewable energy.
  3. Electrical background with electrician or electrical technician training.
  4. At least 1 year of experience servicing electrical power equipment in the commercial or utility sector, or formal electrical training.
  5. Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  6. Experience in renewables, especially solar, preferred.
  7. Valid driver’s license with ability to operate company vehicle.
  8. Ability to wear PPE in various settings.
  9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  10. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
