Job summary

WSP is seeking a Software Asset Management Specialist to manage the lifecycle of commercial applications across Canada, focusing on licensing compliance, governance, and cost optimization.

You will drive inventory accuracy, reporting, and process improvement across collaboration, productivity, and utilities software, including vendor audits and renewals. This national role supports multiple regions with a strong focus on ITSM and ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong grasp of licensing models including subscription vs perpetual and per‑user vs per‑device.
  • 5+ years in an ITIL‑aligned operational role in SAM or similar, ideally with a COTS/desktop focus.
  • Hands-on discovery, software metering, and reconciliation using Snow License Manager.
  • ITIL framework knowledge; ITIL qualification is preferred.
  • Experience deploying and inventorying in Microsoft Intune and SCCM.
  • Proficient in ServiceNow and meeting SLAs.
  • Analytical, communicative, and able to influence stakeholders globally.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and drive for continual improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an accurate CMDB in ServiceNow for all COTS assets and entitlements.
  • Reconcile deployments against vendor agreements to ensure license compliance.
  • Capture license entitlements, proofs of purchase, and activation details.
  • Support vendor audits and license reviews, including Adobe and Microsoft.
  • Provide reporting to meet audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Process COTS software requests through the SAM lifecycle in ServiceNow.
  • Coordinate deployment with Intune / SCCM and On‑Site Support teams.
  • Oversee lifecycle from procurement to harvest and retirement.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities by license optimization.
  • Develop dashboards and metrics for software usage and vendor performance.
  • Document internal SAM policies aligned to ISO/IEC 19770.
  • Respond to escalations and licensing queries with strong customer service.
  • Highlight gaps and issues via operational metrics for ITSM alignment.
