Social Media Content and Community Manager

Genuine Tea was founded in 2015 by David O'Connor and Sarah Wilcox, Tea Sommeliers who spent five years in Taiwan and traveled to tea farms across Asia, learning directly from tea farmers about cultivation, harvesting, and processing.

Genuine Tea is a leader in the Third Wave Tea movement in Canada, with numerous awards including Best Tea in Toronto, and has been featured in the Globe & Mail's fastest-growing 400 businesses in Canada for three consecutive years.

In 2018, Genuine Tea appeared on Dragon's Den, partnering with Arlene Dickinson and District Ventures Capital, which propelled it to a national presence across cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores in Canada. The company also boasts a growing e-commerce platform and a loyal customer base nationwide.

In 2024, Genuine Tea was acquired by GoodFood Market (TSX: FOOD), a tech-driven e-commerce leader transforming grocery shopping with AI-powered convenience and nationwide delivery. Sarah and Dave retain a 20% ownership stake and are actively involved in daily operations.

The Role

Reporting to the co-founders, the Social Media Content & Community Manager is responsible for managing our online presence and IRL engagement. You will oversee our social channels, steward an ambassador program, develop marketing campaigns, and turn live events into engaging stories that drive sales. Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media & Content:

  • Plan, film, edit (using CapCut & Adobe Creative Suite), schedule (using Metricool), and publish daily content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Create platform-specific copy and engaging hooks; record voice-overs and appear on camera as needed.
  • Optimize posts and ad creatives for conversions, collaborating with paid media specialists to improve high-performing formats.
  • Contribute fresh ideas to overall marketing strategies, working with founders and paid media teams on campaigns across organic, paid, and experiential channels.
  • Monitor KPIs weekly, generate performance reports, and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Recruit new ambassadors and micro-creators, nurture relationships, and manage product seeding logistics.
  • Gather and repurpose user-generated content, ensuring all creator content aligns with brand and FTC guidelines.
  • Track sales, discount codes, and affiliate links via ShopifyCollabs and Meta Business Suite; share insights with the team.

3. Community, Events & Email:

  • Coordinate and attend demos, pop-ups, and trade shows (including some weekends); capture content and create engaging reels from activations.
  • Partner with cafes, wellness studios, and retailers for collaborative events that reinforce brand pillars.
  • Write engaging email copy for monthly newsletters (using Klaviyo), including catchy subject lines and clear CTAs, leveraging performance data to improve future campaigns.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3+ years’ hands-on experience in social media, preferably within CPG, beverage, or wellness brands.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn algorithms and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of paid and organic social media integration; ability to craft creatives that work seamlessly across formats.
  • Proficiency with Metricool, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta Business Suite, and Shopify (including ShopifyCollabs).
  • Ability to adapt quickly from virtual strategy to on-site promotional activities, maintaining professionalism in all settings.

Work Arrangement: Primarily remote, with occasional travel across the GTA for content capture, activations, live events, and trade shows.
