Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus is seeking a Simulation Centre Technician to support high‑fidelity simulations for nursing, paramedic, and health sciences programs. You will assist with technical setups, equipment prep and data integrity, collaborating with faculty and tech specialists.

You will help manage simulation assets, work with robotic mannequins, and participate in ongoing improvements for safe, realistic learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Nursing; and/or certificate or diploma in Paramedicine; or an equivalent or relevant combination of education, training and experience.
• A minimum of two years of experience working in an acute care clinical setting.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and current knowledge of procedures and consumable medical products used in healthcare and in simulation, including the operation of simulation software.
• Technical proficiency with electronic and digital medical equipment and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• The ability to learn and utilize new applications and software platforms to enhance simulation experiences.
• Training or experience at the introductory level in the use of MS Office suite.
• Effective communication (listening, oral, written) skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity

Responsibilities

• The Simulation Centres prepare health care learners for clinical practice by building their competence and confidence through participation in realistic experiences.
• The centres create a wide variety of situations, which translate into better care for patients when students graduate and enter their chosen field.
• Offering technical assistance for simulations designed for nursing, paramedic, health sciences, and other various programs.
• Delivery of high-fidelity scenarios using multiple technological platforms to provide students with life‑like learning experiences in a safe simulated environment.
• Preparation and disassembly of simulation equipment, encompassing both technical setup and physical arrangements: assembling mannikins or task trainers, preparing the simulation environment (beds, supplies, patient charts), ensuring correct props, etc…
• Partnering with faculty to input event scenarios’ data and maintain data integrity.
• Assist with faculty and learning technology experts to create and explore virtual simulation requirements and possibilities.
• Working alongside the Simulation Learning Centre Coordinator and Simulation Assistants to manage assets, oversee maintenance and repairs, and support procurement of supplies and equipment.
• Contribute as part of the Simulation Learning Centre team to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvements

• Delivery of high-fidelity scenarios using multiple technological platforms to provide students with life‑like learning experiences in a safe simulated environment, this includes working with robotic mannequins to provide vocal, audio and visual cues that are appropriate for the scenario.
• Preparation and disassembly of simulation equipment, encompassing both technical setup and physical arrangements: assembling mannikins or task trainers, preparing the simulation environment (beds, supplies, patient charts), ensuring correct props, etc…
• Partnering with faculty to input event scenarios’ data and maintain data integrity.
• Assist with faculty and learning technology experts to create and explore virtual simulation requirements and possibilities.
• Working alongside the Simulation Learning Centre Coordinator and Simulation Assistants to manage assets, oversee maintenance and repairs, and support procurement of supplies and equipment.
