Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus seeks a Simulation Technician to support high-fidelity nursing and paramedicine simulations. You will prepare, run, and refine realistic scenarios in a safe, controlled environment using robotic mannequins and diverse tech platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Nursing; or a Paramedicine certificate; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience in an acute care clinical setting.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and current knowledge of procedures and consumable medical products used in healthcare and in simulation, including operation of simulation software.
• Technical proficiency with electronic and digital medical equipment and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Ability to learn and utilize new applications and software platforms to enhance simulation experiences.
• Training or experience at the introductory level in the use of MS Office suite.
• Effective communication (listening, oral, written) skills.

Responsibilities

• Offer technical assistance for simulations designed for nursing, paramedic, health sciences, and other programs.
• Deliver high-fidelity scenarios using multiple platforms to provide life-like learning in a safe simulated environment with robotic mannequins.
• Prepare and disassemble simulation equipment and setting: beds, charts, props, and manikins.
• Collaborate with faculty to input event data and maintain data integrity.
• Assist faculty and learning technology experts with virtual simulation requirements and possibilities.
• Work with team to manage assets, oversee maintenance, and procure supplies and equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvements as part of the Simulation Learning Centre team.

Job Duties

Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)

The Simulation Centres prepare health care learners for clinical practice by building their competence and confidence through participation in realistic experiences. The centres create a wide variety of situations, which translate into better care for patients when students graduate and enter their chosen field.

The Simulation Technician will be responsible for duties such as:

• 1 Offering technical assistance for simulations designed for nursing, paramedic, health sciences, and other various programs. This will require the technician to recall prior acute care experience and utilize lab checklist to create realistic scenarios for students.
• 2 Delivery of high-fidelity scenarios using multiple technological platforms to provide students with life-like learning experiences in a safe simulated environment, this includes working with robotic mannequins to provide vocal, audio and visual cues that are appropriate for the scenario.
• 3 Preparation and disassembly of simulation equipment, encompassing both technical setup and physical arrangements: assembling mannikins or task trainers, preparing the simulation environment (beds, supplies, patient charts), ensuring correct props, etc…
• 4 Partnering with faculty to input event scenarios’ data and maintain data integrity.
• 5 Assist with faculty and learning technology experts to create and explore virtual simulation requirements and possibilities.
• 6 Working alongside the Simulation Learning Centre Coordinator and Simulation Assistants to manage assets, oversee maintenance and repairs, and support procurement of supplies and equipment.
• 7 Contribute as part of the Simulation Learning Centre team to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvements
