Job summary

Park Place Seniors Living is seeking a part-time Dietitian (0.6 FTE) to provide therapeutic nutrition services to residents, working with the Support Services Manager to ensure compliance with legislative standards and resident satisfaction.

The successful candidate will assess residents at admission and annually, perform swallowing assessments, counsel on therapeutic diets, prescribe supplements as appropriate, monitor weight data, and contribute to care plans, progress notes, and RAPs related

Qualifications

• University degree in Food and Nutrition or related field is required.
• Two years of related experience is an asset.
• Experience in a seniors care environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides therapeutic nutrition services to residents and collaborates with the Support Services Manager to ensure compliance with legislative standards, PPSL policy and resident satisfaction.
• Performs admission and annual nutritional assessments to create in-depth plans based on residents' needs, abilities and goals.
• Performs swallowing assessments and recommends diet textures, meal assist techniques and safety precautions.
• Counsels residents and families on therapeutic diets and other nutritional concerns.
• Prescribes dietary supplements as appropriate and monitors effectiveness and usage.
• Reviews resident weight data and updates assessments and plans as needed to ensure nutrition goals are met.
• Manages MDS and RAPs related to nutrition, including care plans, progress notes, assessments, profiles and tracking.

Responsibilities

• The Dietitian provides therapeutic services to individual residents working in with the Support Services Manager to ensure food services meet all legislative standards, PPSL policy and resident satisfaction.
• In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and the resident and/or family, assesses all residents upon admission and annually to complete a documented, in-depth nutritional assessment, based on the resident’s needs, abilities and goals.
• Performs swallowing assessments and makes recommendations on diet textures, meal assist techniques and safety precautions.
• Counsels residents and family members on therapeutic diets, and other nutritional concerns.
• Prescribes dietary supplements as appropriate (eg. resident with weight loss, wounds) and monitors their effectiveness and use.
• Responsible for routinely reviewing resident weight data and following up with an in-depth nutritional assessment and plan revision as appropriate.
• Responsible for both the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and the Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPs) as it pertains to nutrition, which includes but is not limited to: care plans, progress notes, assessments, profiles and/or tracking.

Qualifications include:

• Must have a university degree in Food and Nutrition or related field of study.
• Two (2) years recent related experience an asset.
• Experience in a seniors care environment.
