Job summary

West Coast Seniors Housing Management is seeking a Dietitian to oversee the nutritional management of residents in the facility. The role focuses on quality meal service and adherence to Community Care Licensing standards.

Reporting to the Director of Care, you will develop care plans, monitor nutrition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure meals meet Canada Food Guide guidelines while respecting cultural and dietary preferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition and completion of an accredited internship program.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • Recent clinical experience in geriatric nutrition is an asset.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a nutrition care plan for each resident within two weeks of admission.
  • Review nutrition care plans at least every 12 weeks or as needed.
  • Monitor and revise nutrition care plans based on resident needs.
  • Ensure meals and snacks meet Canada’s Food Guide requirements.
  • Develop documentation and reporting systems for menus, audits and education.
  • Attend care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the food services coordinator as required.
  • Conduct nutrient analysis of menu items as needed.

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

This position is covered under the HEABC wage levelling. Please note the wage is currently being adjusted and topped up by the government and the displayed wage is therefore reflective of such initiative.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Director of Care and/or designate theDietitian will be responsible for the nutritional management of the residentswithin the facility through the provision of a quality meal service andassurance that clinical standards as outlined in the Community Care Licensingrequirements are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include but notlimited to;

  • Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.
  • Adhere to the Ministry of Health’s Adult Care Regulations and legislation.
  • Develop a nutrition care plan for each resident as part of the resident’s overall care plan within two weeks of the resident’s admission.
  • Review nutrition care plans at least once within 12 weeks of admission or more often as needed
  • Monitor the nutrition care plan to ensure implementation
  • Revise the nutrition care plan in response to changes in a resident’s needs
  • Attend care conferences, food user committee meetings and other meetings as required
  • Ensure that meals and snacks meet the requirements of the most recent edition of Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating; and as much as possible take into consideration the resident’s dining and food preferences, religious and cultural customs.
  • Establish policies and procedures with respect to resident meal service and nutritional care.
  • Conduct nutrition and food service audits in accordance with the schedule provided by the appropriate legislation.
  • Develop documentation and reporting systems to maintain accurate records for menus, audits and education.
  • Participate in staff education regarding nutrition, mealtime management issues and food safety.
  • Liaise with other members of the interdisciplinary team and community services.
  • Collaborate with the food services coordinator as required.
  • Conduct nutrient analysis of menu items as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
