Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Registered Dietitian to lead nutritional care across our long-term care communities in Gravenhurst, Canada. This role collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement nutrition interventions that support resident well-being.

You will develop therapeutic menus, identify nutrition risks, and provide counseling to residents and families while adhering to provincial regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition university program.
• Member of College of Dietitians of Ontario/British Columbia.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Long Term Care setting.
• Knowledge of Ministry/Provincial health regulations for dietary and nutrition care.
• Experience with dementia, dysphagia, tube feeding, weight management and related conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate residents’ nutritional care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide nutrition care including assessments, reassessments and interventions.
• Develop therapeutic menus for special diets as needed.
• Identify nutrition-related risk and implement mitigation strategies.
• Provide nutrition counseling to residents, families, or decision-makers.

The Registered Dietitian is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.

As a Registered Dietitian your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Planning, organizing, directing and evaluating residents’ nutritional care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Providing nutritional care including assessments, reassessments and develops appropriate nutrition interventions in consultation with the interdisciplinary team.
• Developing Therapeutic menus for special diets not included in the Therapeutic menu extensions.
• Identifying risk related to nutrition care, dietary services and hydration.
• Implementing interventions to mitigate and manage nutrition and hydration risk.
• Providing nutrition/dietary counseling or education for residents and/or their caregivers, family members or substitute decision makers for the purpose of supporting optimum resident nutrition care.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves:

• Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition university program.
• Member of College of Dietitians of Ontario/British Columbia.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Long Term Care.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care dietary and nutrition regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate interventions in nutritional care for Long Term Care setting needs including but not limited to dementia, dysphagia, tube feeding, weight management, wound treatment, diabetes, renal disease, food allergies and intolerances.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.
