Job summary

Wild Ridge Landscapes in Ottawa is seeking Winter Sidewalk Crew Members to assist with ice and snow removal for commercial and residential properties.

This fixed-term contract runs November 2025 through April 2026, offering a pay rate of $21-$25 per hour and guaranteed minimum hours. On-site parking and RRSP/HSA benefits are provided.

You will work with experienced crews, handle snowblowers, shovels, and de-icing, and must be ready for all weather and irregular hours.

Qualifications

• On-call availability 24-7 with 1 hour response time.
• Experience with winter snow clearing and related activities.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to on-call snow removal tasks with a 1-hour response time.
• Clear snow using snowblowers, shovels and rakes.
• Salt and de-ice sidewalks, stairs, driveways and entrances.
• Mark safety hazards on client properties with appropriate signage.
• Assist teammates to clear large areas efficiently.
• Perform shop work and equipment maintenance as assigned.
• Work in all types of weather and irregular hours.

Main Purpose of Job:

Safely and efficiently assist in completing an assigned snow route with the necessary equipment.

Reports to:

Winter Sidewalk Crew Lead

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Requires on-call availability 24-7, with 1 hour response time
• Responsible for all winter snow clearing and related activities as assigned by Crew Leaders and Supervisors
• Assisting teammates to efficiently clear large areas
• Clearing snow using tools like snowblowers, shovels, and rakes
• Salting and de-icing sidewalks, stairs, driveways, and entrances
• Marking safety hazards on clients' properties with appropriate signage
• Heavy lifting is a requirement and a key part of the job
• Safe handling of gasoline, oils, diesel fuels, grease and other equipment related fluids etc.
• Shop work, vehicle and equipment maintenance activities as assigned
• Willingness to work in all types of weather and at irregular times

Working Conditions:

• Employees will be asked to work in mild to very cold weather conditions. This may include icy roads and stormy skies
• In all seasons, employees need to be prepared to be asked to work in rainy conditions and to bring appropriate gear such as rain jackets
• Crew members can expect to occasionally be exposed to chemicals such as gasoline and lubricants

Motion Parameters:

• Crew members can expect to be on their feet for long periods of time. The job requires walking, bending and repetitive lifting
