Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee purchasing, inventory control and supplier partnerships at our Toronto operations. You will lead a team, manage daily reports, ensure safety standards, and optimize product quality and profitability.

The role requires strong English communication, ability to work long shifts, and flexibility to cover events. You will collaborate with management, associates and partners to drive excellence across all service areas.

Qualifications

  • Must communicate effectively with management, associates and guests in English.
  • Strong reading, writing, math and computer skills required.
  • Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products.
  • Able to perform diverse physical tasks.
  • Able to work extended shifts of 10 hours or more.
  • Flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend and lift as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains “show quality” of all areas at all times.
  • Understands all menus, product offerings, packaging, and pricing.
  • Establishes rapport with associates, management, and partners.
  • Employs safety, security and sanitation guidelines and practices.
  • Completes scheduling of team members for all events.
  • Manages inventory procedures and product control.
  • Achieves daily sales, cost and budget goals.
  • Oversees daily reporting and month-end closings.
  • Reviews forecasts and schedules to meet targets.
  • Uses Compass systems (Purchasing, POS, timekeeping).
  • Interviews, hires and trains associates according to Compass guidelines.

Job description

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for maintaining strong partnerships with all vendors, meet operations product needs on a timely basis and evaluate and recommend new products to enhance standards and increase profitability.

Now, If You Were To Come On Board As Our Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, We’d Ask You To Do The Following For Us

  • Maintains “show quality” of all areas at all times
  • Understands all menus, product offerings, packaging, and pricing
  • Establishes rapport with associates, management, and partners
  • Employs safety, security and sanitation guidelines and practices
  • Completes scheduling of team members for all events
  • Practices proper product control and handling of all inventory and equipment
  • Achieves daily sales, assigned cost goals and budget goals
  • Oversees execution of required daily reporting and completion of required department reports and compiles information at month end closing
  • Reviews forecasts and schedules to meet operational needs and desired targets
  • Thoroughly and accurately uses applicable Compass systems (Purchasing Systems, Point-of-sale, Timekeeping systems, etc.)
  • Oversees inventory procedures for accountability and ensures inventory best practices are in place
  • Uses all performance management tools to provide guidance to team and to ensure lines of communication are open between management and associates
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and develops associates according to Compass guidelines
