Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician in Swan River to repair and maintain construction and forestry equipment in a shop setting. The role reports to the Winnipeg Construction and Forestry branch.

You will diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and ensure safety and quality standards while documenting all actions and using tools, software, and test runs to verify performance.

Qualifications

  • 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Trade qualification in heavy equipment or related field is asset.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Computer aptitude for diagnostics and calibration.
  • Strong time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Commitment to high quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate condition, diagnose, repair equipment in shop.
  • Order and manage parts as needed.
  • Use tools and computer systems safely.
  • Document work orders with actions and time.
  • Assess hazards and work safely to standards.
  • Use service software to document maintenance/diagnosis.
  • Road test equipment and verify attachment operation.

Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Swan River location, reporting to our Winnipeg Construction and Forestry branch.

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair equipment
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
  • Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
  • Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
What We Look For
  • Ability to operate Forklift. Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered as asset. 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Possess computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Possess diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Possess strong time management skills to perform under pressure.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Possess a commitment to high quality customer service.
