Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Mont-Laurier Construction & Forestry location. You will diagnose, service, maintain and repair customer- and dealer-owned equipment with efficiency.

Applicants enrolled as an Apprentice or Journeyperson in the heavy equipment trade are preferred, with strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment is required.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Ability to document work orders accurately and timely.
  • Customer-focused with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently diagnose, assemble/disassemble, diagnose, and repair heavy duty equipment.
  • Document work orders with machine information, actions taken, and time.
  • Use tools and computer systems safely and effectively.
  • Order parts and coordinate with parts personnel.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation.
  • Assess task hazards and ensure work is performed safely.

Description

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Mont-Laurier Construction & Forestry location.

This position is responsible for performing basic/complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment on an efficient basis.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
  • Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
  • Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

  • Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to high quality customer service with a strong people orientation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsperience
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
  • Enrolled as an Apprentice or certified Journeyperson in the heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
  • Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
