Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company Canada seeks an Account Executive Director to lead underwriting and sales for our most complex book. You will partner with brokers to align risk, pricing and service delivery while driving growth and profitability in the region.

Ideal candidates bring eight+ years in surety underwriting or brokering, strong negotiation and relationship skills, and the ability to develop agency sales plans and mentor underwriting teams. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of relevant surety underwriting or brokering experience.
• Expert knowledge of surety products, the regulatory environment, and the local construction market.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with brokers.
• Relevant professional designation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. The book of business owned is comprised of accounts with the highest complexity.
• Underwrite and skillfully negotiate the most complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify growth opportunities.
• Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with brokers to market and sell Travelers services with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite. Must be able to travel to such meetings.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with Managing Director (MD) to develop region/group sales plans.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and strategic counsel on underwriting to all levels of underwriters within region or business unit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
