Job summary

Sedgman Canada Limited in Vancouver, BC, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead and provide technical support on structural projects, including design, investigations, budgets and schedules, and to mentor a young, enthusiastic team.

You will manage concrete and steel designs for heavy industrial structures, interface with Electrical, Process and Mechanical disciplines, and drive technical innovation while upholding QA compliance and industry codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligible to obtain.
• 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 in a project lead or senior role.
• Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.
• Experience with design/consultancy/operational environments.
• Mining or metals industry experience is highly desired.
• Ability to self-manage time, priorities and activities.
• Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards.
• Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs
• Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance
• Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection
• Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical
• Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
