John Hancock Technology Office is seeking an experienced architect to engage with multiple high-profile initiatives related to Marketing and Behavioral Insurance. This position requires the ability to architect and design highly scalable solutions that enhance customer engagement, personalization, and marketing automation, leveraging both our existing capabilities and emerging technologies, and supporting our digital, customer-centric transformation.

The Solution Architect is capable of translating business vision into a technology reality and works as a senior technical team member by providing oversight and expertise across various technologies and business domains to deliver complete solutions.

This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer to stay hands-on, solve technical problems specific to one or more business functions, and work with delivery teams to contribute to the solution architecture.

Responsibilities

1. Partner with engineering leads and developers to own and drive end-to-end delivery of technical solutions.
2. Produce key design documents and architecture artifacts based on project needs and architectural target state.
3. Participate in all aspects of the project lifecycle, working closely with solution delivery teams.
4. Develop and enhance software frameworks, design patterns, and best practices.
5. Design and implement new technology proof-of-concepts.
6. Present and discuss different solution options with pros & cons.
7. Incorporate stakeholder feedback to drive design decisions.
8. Review artifacts like use cases, designs, code, and provide feedback.
9. Review packaged solutions for technical fit and feasibility.
10. Guide development teams and lead solution reviews.
11. Identify complex issues and provide mitigation recommendations.
12. Demonstrate leadership in operational excellence and best practices.
13. Contribute to architecture and engineering communities within the company.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. 7+ years of IT experience and application development experience.
3. Financial services industry experience preferred.
4. 3+ years hands-on experience with marketing technology platforms like Adobe Experience Platform, Marketo, Salesforce.
5. Strong understanding of customer data models, marketing automation, and behavioral data integration.
6. Experience designing solutions integrating CRM, CDP, and marketing automation systems.
7. Knowledge of modern programming languages and frameworks.
8. Understanding of data privacy laws and compliance standards.
9. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
10. Experience with software development lifecycle and methodologies like Agile, Scrum.
11. Hands-on experience with containerized and serverless workloads.
12. Understanding of security and compliance standards.
