Job summary

GitHub is seeking a software engineer for its Ecosystem Events team in a remote Canada role. You will build and operate the webhook platform, enabling third-party integrations and GitHub products.

The work involves Go and Ruby services, scaling during high traffic, and collaboration with databases, queues, and compute infra. You will design, implement, ship, and support improvements to webhook services and APIs, while mentoring other engineers and maintaining system health through on-call

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience delivering production software in multiple languages (Go, Ruby, Python, C/C++, Java, etc.).
• Strong distributed systems background and on-call experience.
• Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers.
• Ability to design, implement, test, and ship webhook platforms and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and ship improvements to webhook services and APIs.
• Build and maintain event-driven systems with high traffic and reliability.
• Debug cross-service issues and improve observability and tooling.
• Collaborate with infra teams to boost performance and resolve dependencies.
• Support teams building webhook integrations across GitHub.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring.
• Maintain service health and participate in on-call rotations.
• Propose architectures and run experiments to scale systems.
• Write clean maintainable code and ensure CI/CD delivery.
