Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC in Vancouver is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build foundational features for large-scale distributed systems. You will design robust APIs, contribute to code reviews, and own parts of the production lifecycle under senior guidance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and ensure reliability and security in production while growing your skills in system design and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on scalable systems.
• Experience programming with at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex, scalable software systems and APIs
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish best practices
• Make architectural trade‑offs balancing business needs and technical constraints
• Ensure system reliability, security, and scalability in production
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on requirements and roadmap execution
• Troubleshoot performance issues and participate in on‑call rotations
• Anticipate bottlenecks and provide escalation management
