Job summary

Town of Ajax invites applicants for Senior Snow Worker to support the Senior Snow Removal Program, clearing snow from municipal sidewalks and driveways, and maintaining Town facilities and open spaces. Responsibilities include litter collection, helping with minor infrastructure repairs, and trail maintenance.

Role requires winter-season work, often in 12-hour shifts across days, evenings and weekends, with a 48-hour biweekly schedule and short-notice activation during heavy snowfall.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and spend long durations shoveling snow.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. at one time (benches, picnic tables, etc).
• Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Good time management and flexibility in adjusting between duties.
• Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license with a clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of seasonal work plans and meet service levels for senior snow applicants and Town facilities.
• Perform snow clearing of sidewalks, private driveways, trails, parking lots, and facilities.
• Operate trucks with plows and perform related maintenance tasks; collect litter and empty waste receptacles.
• Support Parks Maintenance Workers, Environmental Services staff, Gardeners and Arborists as needed.
• Contribute to general maintenance of Town equipment and materials.
