The Town of Ajax is seeking a Senior Snow Worker to support the Senior Snow Removal Program, servicing qualified seniors with snow removal on sidewalks, driveways, and windrows, and to assist with Town facilities, parks, and open spaces.
Contract is temporary from December 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, with shifts up to 12 hours, 48 hours over a two-week period, including days, evenings and weekends. Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in varied winter conditions.

We are hiring Senior Snow Workers to assist with the Senior Snow Removal Program which is a service offered to qualified seniors residing in the community. The service includes the removal of snow from the municipal sidewalk, the driveway area, path to the front door and windrow clearing. The Senior Snow Worker is responsible for delivering a wide range of services relating to the maintenance of senior snow applicants and the maintenance of Town facilities, parks, and open space. This includes the collection of litter, emptying waste receptacles, assisting with maintenance activities/minor repairs to infrastructure, assisting horticulture and forestry staff, and trail maintenance. Operating pick-up trucks with a plow/handwork for snow removal to meet winter control objectives including the Senior Snow Removal Program.
Compensation: We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position.
Contract Duration: This temporary contract is from December, 1 2026 to March, 31 2027 and staff are hired to support the Town's Senior Snow Program.
Hours of Work: The position works 48 hours within a 2-week period and is scheduled to works days, evenings and weekends and shifts are up to 12-hours in length. Candidates are required to respond to work on short notice should the Senior Snow Program be activated (snowfall of 5 cm or more).
