Job summary

ASCO is seeking a seasoned Construction Superintendent to oversee the entire operation of an ICI site in Ottawa, Ontario. You will manage field operations, coordinate trades, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

You will lead on-site planning, maintain client communications, read contracts and drawings, and mentor project teams while fostering strong relationships with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in ICI construction.
• Journeyman trade background is an asset.
• Gold Seal Certification is an asset.
• Ability to read, interpret contracts, drawings, specs, and schedules.

Responsibilities

Job description

Salary Range: 130K-150K (depending on experience)

The ideal candidate will be comfortable overseeing the entire operation of the construction site. They should be able to determine and address any risk areas in order to maintain the safety of workers. This candidate should be experienced in communicating project milestones with clients and other parties, and be able to establish a timeline for completion. Some of the Superintendent responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing field operations with a sharp eye for safety, quality, and efficiency
• Coordinating trades, subcontractors, and materials to keep projects moving smoothly
• Ensuring compliance with design plans, specs, codes, and environmental standards
• Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and clients
• Providing safety leadership on site
• Planning, scheduling, and controlling daily construction activities on site
• Ensuring sufficient manpower is provided to achieve safety, schedule, and quality objectives
• Collaborating with and fostering positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.

The preferred candidate will have:

• Have at least 10 (10) years' experience in ICI construction.
• Journeyman trade experience background is a benefit
• Gold Seal Certification is an asset
• Have demonstrated experience with a general contracting company
• Solid experience delivering ICI projects such as: commercial fit-ups & base building, institutional (schools, healthcare, municipal), etc.
• Have direct site supervision of Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional construction projects valued between $1million and $10 million
• Demonstrate superior leadership, motivational, and mentoring skills
• Have strong supervision, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Have excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)
• Be service and results-oriented
• Be able to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
• Be eligible for security clearances and possess a valid driver's license
• Have superior working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
