Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop, and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities within residents' homes and the community. You will support wellbeing, creativity and community, while facilitating opportunities to build relationships and maintain residents\' skills.

The role requires experience with seniors, relevant education in recreation and leisure, and demonstrated care planning and documentation abilities.

Qualifications

Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
Diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or related field.
Enrolled in a recreation and leisure studies/therapeutic recreation program with intent to complete within three years.
Health care related degree with demonstrated skills in planning, documenting, and implementing recreation services in care settings.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop and run recreation and leisure activities in-home and in the community.
Support resident skills development and meaningful engagement through planned and spontaneous activities.
Maintain engaging spaces that foster participation and wellbeing.
Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and staff to support activity programming.
