Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through final account. The role is based at the Waterloo office with regular site visits across London and the South East.

You will lead commercial management, budgeting, procurement and CVR reporting, working closely with the Commercial Director and project teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to client expectations.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of pre- and post-contract commercial management.
  • Experience managing projects independently from procurement through to final account.
  • Good working knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Strong subcontractor procurement and management experience.
  • Experience producing cost reports, forecasts and CVRs.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial awareness.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and project teams.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or construction-related discipline is advantageous.
  • Experience across refurbishment, new build, commercial, residential, education or cladding projects would be beneficial.

  • Supporting junior members of the commercial team where required
  • Ensuring projects are commercially closed out effectively and final accounts are agreed

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client, an established and growing main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across London and the South East.


The role will be based from the Waterloo office, alongside regular travel to project sites, and will see you taking commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account.


Our client delivers projects across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare and specialist cladding remediation, working on both new build and refurbishment schemes.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a senior position, or an established Senior QS looking to join a growing contractor where they can have a genuine influence on the commercial delivery of projects.


The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management of projects, working closely with the Commercial Director, project teams, clients and supply chain.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:
