Job summary

Cenovus Energy, Calgary, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to ensure safe, on-budget, on-schedule delivery across the Canadian Thermal Conventional Heavy Oil asset team. You will direct scoping, design, construction and commissioning with strong technical leadership and adherence to Cenovus processes.

The role requires a P.Eng with APEGA, 8+ years in SAGD/oil & gas projects, and proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex contracting strategies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer registered with APEGA.
• 8+ years of experience in SAGD or Oil & Gas projects.
• Experience at operating asset or EPCM environments is an asset.
• Fluent knowledge of codes, standards, and recommended practices for oil and gas design and construction.
• Proven ability to manage external vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide single point coordination of upfront scoping and field verifications.
• Lead engineering and procurement with external firms for multiple projects across phases.
• Provide piping and mechanical system design knowledge for low-complexity work.
• Develop contracting strategies and evaluate engineering/vendor bids.
• Support construction and commissioning with technical guidance.
• Prepare project reports and decision-ready presentations for leadership.
• Facilitate Cenovus's Management of Change (MOC) process from engagement to turnover.
