Job summary

COOEC Canada Company is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls engineer for SAGD projects in Calgary. You will lead I&C engineering deliverables, specify instrumentation, review vendor documents, and support commissioning and startup activities.

Minimum 5 years in I&C with DeltaV experience, strong vendor coordination, and P.Eng. enrolled in good standing are preferred. This role requires coordination with international teams and occasional overtime in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Instrumentation & Controls experience in SAGD projects.
• Strong expertise in process instrumentation (flow meters, valves, analyzers, sample conditioning).
• Ability to independently evaluate instrument bid packages and vendor submissions.
• Capable of coordinating with domestic and international vendors; overtime may be required.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial control systems; hands-on Emerson DeltaV experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong understanding of instrumentation and control principles and standards.
• Provide I&C design support to multidisciplinary teams.
• Select and specify measurement and control instrumentation for projects.
• Prepare instrument and control valve MRQs and conduct technical bid evaluations.
• Review and approve vendor documentation for instrument and mechanical equipment packages.
• Perform instrument sizing and calculations for valves, relief valves, and flow devices.
• Develop I&C deliverables: control narratives, P&IDs, loop drawings, I/O lists.
• Collaborate with DCS/PLC teams and provide technical support.
• Prepare construction work packages and participate in design reviews.
• Interface with clients during project meetings and HAZOP reviews; ensure compliance.
• Support commissioning activities and participate in FATs/SATs when required.
• Ensure adherence to procedures, practices, quality standards, and regulations.
