Job description

Bunch Projects is a growing and proudly Alberta‑owned company that’s been building energy facilities and pipelines across Western Canada since 1981. We’re known for doing things the right way — with a big focus on safety, quality, and keeping projects running smoothly from start to finish. We bring engineering, fabrication, and construction together under one team, which helps our clients save time and keep costs predictable. With several fabrication shops across Alberta and hundreds of skilled people on our crew, our projects include gas plants, well pad modules, pipelines, and carbon capture.

Position Summary

We are seeking a senior Project Engineer to join our design and engineering team. The successful candidate will provide technical and project support across cross-functional teams, interface with clients, discipline leads, and contractors, and help drive successful delivery in a dynamic oil and gas environment. This role supports pre-FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, and construction phases of our clients’ oil and gas and energy projects, working closely with the Project Manager and project controls team.

Responsibilities
  • Support end-to-end project execution for EPC scopes, helping ensure delivery on time, on budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and control of project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk registers. Support project management with scope definition, engineering work package (EWP) development, man-hour estimation, and schedule tracking.
  • Promote HSE performance and ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Support change management processes and assist with commercial documentation as required.
  • Serve as a key technical interface with clients and stakeholders; support progress reporting and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with process engineers, designers, construction/fabrication teams, third parties, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Prepare and contribute to project status reports, technical summaries, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on control system design documentation (control philosophy/narrative, shutdown key and design basis memorandum (DBM’s).
  • Coordinate/participate in design reviews, model reviews, and client meetings as required.
  • Actively participate in process hazard analysis (PHA) activities (HAZOP, and What-If reviews), and layer of protection analysis (LOPA) as required.
  • Ensure all engineering designs conform to applicable federal and provincial regulations (AER, BCER, etc.) and associated design codes/standards.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, studies, technical reports, and design documentation.
  • Provide technical support during the procurement phase, including technical proposal writing, proposal evaluations and vendor drawing reviews.
  • Support fabrication, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup activities on job sites across Western Canada as required.
  • Support project close-out activities, including lessons learned, final documentation, and handover.
  • Mentor junior engineers and project support staff.
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits as required.
