Job summary

Intertek Group in Coquitlam, BC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Engineering Services to manage complex regulatory compliance projects for building products and assemblies. You will contribute to certification programs and engage with external industries and associations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 5+ years in regulatory writing and TIC-related work, and travel within Canada/USA; P.Eng is preferred. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in technical writing, regulatory compliance, and familiarity with TIC industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and teambuilding skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Be willing to travel within Canada and USA; P.Eng is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work on engineering evaluations for regulatory compliance in Canada and US markets.
  • Prepare technical and certification documentation from test results and evaluations.
  • Write compliance research reports and manage QA programs.

  • Collaborate with sales, laboratory, and technical teams to support project execution.
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion with timely client communication.
  • Participate in industry committees and standards development activities.

Senior Project Engineer - Engineering Services

Intertek is searching for a Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services to join our Building & Construction team in our Coquitlam, BC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) Industry!

The Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services is responsible for managing complex projects related to regulatory compliance of building products and/or assemblies, direct involvement in Intertek certification programs, and engagement with various external industries and technical associations.

What you’ll do:
  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards by research and review. This includes witnessing testing at the laboratory to see the product standards in action.
  • Work on engineering evaluations for regulatory compliance in Canada and US markets for both standardized and innovative building materials/assemblies
  • Prepare technical and certification documentation derived from test results and evaluations.
  • Help write compliance research reports, create Listing reports through Intertek's certification program, and manage QA programs
  • Perform audits and product sampling at client manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, laboratory, and technical teams to support seamless project execution.
  • Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery with continuous communication with clients.
  • Participate actively in industry committees, standards development activities, and technical association meetings.

What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, RRSP with company match, tuition reimbursement and more.
