Job summary

Intertek in Coquitlam, BC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services to lead regulatory compliance projects for building products. You will develop documentation, manage client communications, and coordinate with certification programs while traveling in Canada and the USA.

The role requires a bachelor's in engineering and at least five years in technical writing and regulatory compliance, plus P.Eng, strong leadership and independent work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards by research and review.
  • Witness testing at the laboratory to see product standards in action.
  • Work on engineering evaluations for regulatory compliance in Canada and US markets for standardized and innovative building materials/assemblies.
  • Prepare technical and certification documentation derived from test results and evaluations.
  • Help write compliance research reports, create Listing reports through Intertek's certification program, and manage QA programs.
  • Perform audits and product sampling at client manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborate with sales, laboratory, and technical teams to support project execution.
  • Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion with client communication.
  • Participate in industry committees, standards development activities, and technical association meetings.
  • Interact with clients, accreditors and authorities to resolve matters.
  • Promote new business opportunities.
  • Perform project reviews and billable projects.

Senior Project Engineer - Engineering Services Intertek is searching for a Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services to join our Building & Construction team in our Coquitlam, BC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) Industry!

The Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Services is responsible for managing complex projects related to regulatory compliance of building products and/or assemblies, direct involvement in Intertek certification programs, and engagement with various external industries and technical associations.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards by research and review. This includes witnessing testing at the laboratory to see the product standards in action.
  • Work on engineering evaluations for regulatory compliance in Canada and US markets for both standardized and innovative building materials/assemblies
  • Prepare technical and certification documentation derived from test results and evaluations.

  • Collaborate closely with sales, laboratory, and technical teams to support seamless project execution.
  • Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery with continuous communication with clients.
  • Participate actively in industry committees, standards development activities, and technical association meetings.
  • Interact with clients, accreditors and/or Authority Having Jurisdiction to resolve any matters
  • Promote new business opportunities
  • Perform other work as required such as Project reviews.
  • Perform billable projects
What It Takes To Be Successful In This Role

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, RRSP with company match, tuition reimbursement and more.
