Job summary

Spellbook is hiring a Senior People Partner to scale a distributed team and build the People infrastructure that supports growth. You will partner with the Director of People to implement strategy while rolling up your sleeves on daily operations, leveraging AI to reimagine People delivery and attract Olympic-calibre talent.

Based in the Greater Toronto Area, you’ll work in a distributed-first environment and be in the office at least 3x per month.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Generalist, HRBP or similar role in a high-growth environment.
• Strong understanding of global employment law, compliance, and best practices.
• Forward-thinking, independent, adaptable, and tech-savvy.
• Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to streamline processes.
• Discretion with sensitive issues and strong confidentiality.
• Effective written and verbal communication, proactive problem-solving, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and shape the People function in a fast-growing distributed team.
• Partner with the Director of People to implement People strategy and day-to-day operations.
• Leverage AI to automate routine work and train AI agents across People systems.
• Manage the employee lifecycle across multiple jurisdictions including onboarding and offboarding.
• Coordinate with city ambassadors for in-office activities and events across hubs.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws in Canada, the US, Australia, and the UK.
