Job summary

Velora is seeking a Senior Payments Risk Analyst to own fraud and risk for Aplos Pay. You will monitor transactions, design smarter rules, and implement automation and AI with Engineering, Customer Success, IT and Compliance to scale risk management.

The role is remote across North America, requiring 5+ years in payments fraud/risk and experience with payment rails ( Stripe preferred). You’ll reunite risk decisions with business impact and customer trust.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on payments fraud / risk analysis experience.
• Ownership of fraud or risk outcomes, not only completing a review queue.
• Ability to operate as a team of one with autonomy and structure.
• Familiarity with payment processors / rails; Stripe experience is a plus.
• Experience implementing AI or automation in risk, fraud, or ops workflows.
• Clear, candid communicator who collaborates with CS, compliance, and engineering.
• Strong business awareness: connect risk decisions to trust, growth, and nonprofit impact.
• Interest in building AI-driven technical solutions (e.g. SQL, APIs).

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day transaction monitoring and fraud/risk review for Aplos Pay.
• Investigate suspicious activity end-to-end and document outcomes.
• Design, test, and iterate detection rules and monitoring workflows.
• Reduce manual load by building automation to scale with volume.
• Partner with Customer Success on merchant and customer risk issues.
• Collaborate with IT, Compliance and security to align with Velora’s posture.
• Create the operating rhythm for a team-of-one: playbooks, prioritization, feedback loops.
• Use AI and data tools to speed investigations and spot patterns; finalize risk calls.
• Track good outcomes and continuously improve the process.
• Enable safe onboarding of more customers onto Aplos Pay as monitoring scales.
