Title : Senior Operations Manager

Organization : Real Food for Real Kids

Location : East End of Toronto, ON (On site)

Hours of work : Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm (occasional work outside these hours as needed)

Compensation : $90,000 - $100,000 / year, dependant on experience

Our Food Production Team is looking for a Senior Operations Manager who is energized by food production and procedures. If you have the experience and skills needed, keep reading to see if this rewarding role is for you!

About the Role :

The Sr. Operations Manager collaborates with all departments to ensure outstanding quality and service. You will provide strategic planning, uphold high standards of processes and professionalism, and act as the conduit between staff, production, and business objectives. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, measuring success, and fostering a positive, innovative environment.

This position leads food production and facilities personnel, ensuring safety, productivity, facility projects, maintenance, and budget management.

Key Responsibilities :

Production Management

  • Lead daily production operations for efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Oversee production planning and staffing schedules.
  • Coordinate resources across shifts and respond to operational needs.
  • Communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop team leads and staff, fostering accountability and teamwork.
  • Support workforce planning, including recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Participate in R&D initiatives for process and product improvements.
  • Track and report operational metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality & Safety :

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (GMPs, HACCP).
  • Oversee food quality systems.
  • Participate in quality error prevention and correction.
  • Promote safety culture through training and hazard identification.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and safety policies.
  • Oversee equipment safety and maintenance.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance for inventory and food safety standards.

Facilities Management :

  • Manage facility condition, equipment, and utilities.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and equipment lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with contractors and internal staff for facility upkeep.
  • Review utility use and waste management for sustainability.
  • Lead facility upgrades and equipment installations.
  • Maintain records related to facilities performance.
  • Ensure safety standards are met across facilities and equipment.
  • Lead custodial and facilities staff alignment with priorities.

About You :

Required Education & Experience :

  • Minimum 7 years supervisory experience in a food production facility.
  • Project management experience.
  • College diploma or University degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and safety regulations.

Additional Skills :

  • Effective communication across departments.
  • Leadership, motivation, coaching, conflict resolution.
  • Structured, self-directed approach to projects.
  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; ERP experience an asset.
  • Strong command of English.
